Beetles, moths and other insects found in cupboards may originate in flour, cereals, rice, nuts, spices, animal feed or other dry goods. Adults can wander away from the source, so every suitable package should be checked rather than treating only the shelf where one insect appeared.

Isolate visibly affected products, photograph the insect and packaging and retain a specimen if possible. Do not combine contaminated food with waste that remains indoors. Check unopened packets carefully, but avoid disposing of everything before the scale and source have been assessed.
