Look for larvae as well as adult beetles
Carpet beetle larvae can damage wool, feathers, fur and other animal-based materials. Adult beetles are often noticed near windows, while the damaging larvae remain in darker, undisturbed places where lint, hair or vulnerable textiles collect.
